Brawijaya University (UB) was founded by the President of the Republic of Indonesia through wire no. 258/K/61 sent on July 11 1961. The name Brawijaya is taken from the title of the Kings of Majapahit, a large kingdom in Indonesia from the 12th to 15th centuries. Then, UB changed its status to a state university on January 5 1963, following a Presidential Decree issued at the beginning of the same year.
Currently UB is one of the leading universities in Indonesia with more than 60,000 students, in various vocational, bachelor's, master's, doctoral, professional and specialist doctor programs.
UB has various facilities to support academic activities on campus, such as libraries, laboratories such as LSIH and LSSR, Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Educational Development Institute (LP2), Quality Assurance Institute (LPM), International Office, Bioscience Institute, UB Press, UB Media and Communication, Integrated Lab, UB Forest, Agrotechnopark, Center for Disability Studies and Services.
There are also various student activity groups and Student Activity Unit facilities, Pertamina Sport Arena, Sport Clubhouse, Samantha Krida Hall, Widyaloka Hall, Football Field and other facilities on the Dieng Campus.
UB also provides supporting facilities such as Bus Fleet, Student Dormitory, Employee Cooperative (KPRI), International Student Dormitory, Bank and ATM Center, Post Office, Raden Patah Mosque, Compost Making Facilities, as well as the availability of a Halal Canteen. Meanwhile, for alumni, the university provides an Alumni Association, Career and Entrepreneurship Development Unit, Business Incubator.
In this modern era, UB also provides IT and computer facilities, such as Academic Information Systems, Student Registration and Selection Information Systems, Online New Student Admission Information Systems, Integrated Service Information Portal (GAPURA), Student Academic Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, with adequate internet bandwidth. UB also provides safety and health facilities, such as Fire and Rescue, Ambulance, Health Clinic, UB Hospital, and e-counseling.
UB has Grade A National Accreditation issued by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education, and LAMPTKES. Apart from that, UB has also been internationally accredited by various accreditation bodies, such as the UB Library which is accredited with Rank A by IATUL, the Accounting Study Program at the Faculty of Economics and Business which is accredited by ACCA, Accreditation by IFT for the Agricultural Product Technology Study Program at the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, Accreditation Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE) for Engineering Study Programs, accreditation from the Alliance on Business Education and Scholarship for Tomorrow, and also an association member for the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA), with many AUN-Certified and Accredited Study Programs QA.
